Teacher Joy believes in student choice-when, where, and what to study. You choose the time-why not tell the trainer WHAT to teach and HOW you like to learn? For online classes, I use Skype, which allows audio, video, and text messenging. I will have a camera, so students can see me. Students need headphones / microphone, but a camera is not required. There are two main advantages to online classes: Materials-I use a wide variety of websites to bring authentic and realistic situations. For example, class could take place on a "virtual beach, mountain, or museum". Text chat-This allows the trainer to type student mistakes and the corrections. These notes are automatically saved in the 'chat history', so students can review them at any time. Many students like to use a textbook, so I offer a wide range of textbooks to choose from. Students can choose to do the textbook together (with me) or as homework (before / after class) . Of course, I can also design an engaging class based on the student's level and progress (from the last lesson) . These activities may include vocabulary work-outs, grammar-oriented exercises, topic-based discussion (work, hobbies, family, culture, etc. ) , role plays (dialogues of common situations) , games, or analysis of a news or magazine article, etc.
