Hello, My name is Monte Hall, My partner and I started our own company called eyeon packaging about 2 years ago. After 16 years in Pre-press, Marketing, Design, and Print, I have seen it all and heard it all. The reason I started eyeon packaging was to give control and ownership back in the hands of the Brand Manager/Customer. Too many times I have seen designs that are not printable, pre-press companies that do not do their job and understand the design and what is achievable on press or even fingerprint the press for best result, and finally printers with 35 years experience telling the customer press-side that "this is as good as it gets." What I do is conduct a pre-production meeting, evaluate the design, making sure it is print friendly, will it work on press, if there are changes that need to be made, it needs to be sent back to the designer to fix, not the pre-press company to charge you even more money to correct the files. Next step is to make sure you are getting the best separator/ pre-press house to fingerprint the press and develop a press curve for the approved printer. When it come to the print there are several things that can effect color, the main thing that effects color is dot gain, if a printer can not control their dot gain then we need to find another printer. I created a color management checklist that the printer fills out with ever job. This is a very detailed list, what press, sticky back, what anilox was used in each station, what cell volume on the anilox, what type of plate and exposure time, what was the dot gain, the density and hue of ink. All of this information is filled out and 6 samples are sent to you the customer and me! So when they run this item again 6 months down the road and it does not match the previous samples then we can measure what was done differently. Or we will reject the print. This keeps everyone honest. This is a lot of information to digest, but I would love an opportunity to work with, quote on your next project. There are a lot of innovative new bag structures out there that you can look at.thanks for listening and hope to hear from you soon, monte hall| eyeon packaging 765.461.9162
