Ponmudi Tea Plantation Private Limited was established in the year 1890. The 872 acres plantation is a 117 year old, and was started by Mr. William Marshal in the name The Marshall Brothers Co. and remained as a British Company, until it passed into Indian hands with its fine tea being shipped to England. The plantation derived its name from its location on at the apex of the Ponmudi Hills.
Ponmudi Estate is an organization Certified by IMO Control, member of IMO Group Switzerland according to NPOP and Regulation (EEC) No 2092 / 91.
Organic Tea is grown without the use of pesticides, artificial fertilizers and sewage sludge, and they are processed without ionizing radiation or food additives. This tea is cultivated with natures solutions for pest control and environmental protection. Tea is planted and harvested according to lunar cycles to extract the healthiest crop with the most stimulating flavour. Organic teas produced by Ponmudi estate is a premium produce and certified as organic by internationally recognized standards.
