Nusa Era Cemerlang Indonesia

Our kaolins are used in a wide variety of ceramic applications, from local tableware and sanitary ware to electrical porcelain, tiles and glazes. There are some less obvious uses including glass fibre, white cement and refractory insulation bricks. The kaolin deposits of West Borneo, Indonesia were formed by the hydrothermal granites almost 300 million years ago. The process which converted the hard granite into the soft matrix found in kaolin pits is known as kaolinisation. The quartz and mica of the granite remain relatively unchanged whilst the feldspar is transformed into kaolinite. The refining and processing of the fine fraction of the kaolinised granite yields predominantly kaolinite with minor amounts of mica and fine quartz. Our existing kaolin deposits have been mined only about 3 to 5 years, and we has been extracting and refining the kaolinite for over a year. We have 2 location of mining with the extending of each location over 50 hectares. The overburden is removed in advance of our kaolin mining operations. Overburden varies in Depth up to 5 meters. The clay seam has an average thickness of from 1. 5 to 2 meters, although in some localities it is as much as 3 Meters thick. After the overburden removed the kaolinised matrix is extract by manual traditional way using shovel.
