Ocean shell has traded over the past 12 years as southern shell. Over 200 tonnes of paua shell is processed annually,70% to 80% of new zealand's paua harvest.
Ocean shell also supplies a range of seashells from the wider south pacific region. Container quantities of white or black mop, trochus, greensnail and australian abalone are either shipped into the riverton factory for processing or directly to offshore customers.
