4F-PHP belongs to the class of chemicals known as substituted cathinones.The substituted cathinones are a series of compounds which feature a phenethylamine backbone with a ketone at the beta carbon and various alkyl moieties substituted at the alpha carbon adjacent to the amine. 4F-PVP and α-PHP have a butyl substitute at the alpha carbon. This confers increased lipophilicity to these particular cathinones. The nitrogen itself is transformed into a pyrrolidine moiety as it forms a five member ring with four other carbons.Many of the cathinone compounds have stimulatory effects when consumed. Some induce states of euphoria and some act as entactogens.
