Determination of the Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate for fully automated analyzers. ESR is a clinical lab test that measures the rate at which red blood cells in whole blood descend into a
standardized tube, reported as mm per hour, to measure inflammation as inflamed red blood cells settle quickly relative to normal blood cells. A high ESR could be indicative of elevated
inflammation. ESR black top blood tube is one kind of whole blood collection tube.
Description of ESR Blood Collection Tube
01
Sodium citrate is used as anticoagulant to prevent blood from clotting. Filled with a buffered sodium citrate solution in a concentration of 0.129mol/L (3.8%).
02
The blood to additive ratio is 4:1.
03
After ESR blood collection tube has been filled with blood, immediately invert the tube 8-10 times to mix and ensure adequate anticoagulation of the specimen.
04
Aluminum composite bags available to provide optimum protection against additive evaporation, UV light, dirt and mechanical influences.
05
All the necessary custom service options to fulfill your project requirements.

What is an Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR)?
A blood test called an erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) gauges how rapidly red blood cells, or erythrocytes, settle to the bottom of a test tube containing a blood sample. Red blood cells often
settle fairly slowly. A higher-than-average rate could be a sign of internal inflammation. Inflammation is a normal aspect of your immune system's response. It could be a response to an injury or
infection.
What is the Method of ESR Test?
ESR can be measured using a variety of methods, including the Westergren, Wintrobe, and micro-ESR methods, as well as automated devices. The Westergren method is the most often used ESR method.
The Westergren method has traditionally been used to calculate ESR by measuring the distance that RBCs settle to the bottom of a 2.5 cm internal bore elongated tube.
The Wintrobe method employs 100-mm-long tubes with a smaller bore (thinner tube) than typical Westergren tubes. It is thought to be less sensitive than the Westergren.
The micro ESR is a method of obtaining the ESR that uses capillary tubes and allows for faster testing periods.
