One of the problems of concern to operators of centrifugal slurry pumps is the wear of shaft sleeves and the deterioration of packing material in the gland.
This matter has also been under study by the Materials Research and Development Department of TOBEE PUMP for some time. The result is the development of a shaft sleeve of much superior wearing qualities.

Slurry Pump Steel Shaft Sleeve has always been the here-to-fore accepted material for shaft sleeves for most centrifugal slurry pumps. However, steel in shaft sleeves is subject to pitting, fritting and wear that often results in short part life. So Tobee Pump developments of a ceramic coating shaft sleeve of much superior wearing qualities.

Corrosion Resistance
SiC has stable chemical properties, can withstand the corrosion of almost all kinds of inorganic acids, organic acids, alkalis, and has strong anti-oxidation properties.
Wear Performance
The crystal structure of SiC is same as regular tetrahedron of diamond, and it is also a compound mainly combined together by covalent bond. In fact, the hardness of SiC is next to that of diamond.
Tested by Tobee, the anti-wear performance is 3.51 times that of Cr30.
Service Life
The ceramic coated sleeve surface is highly polished which, together with its lower co-efficient of friction, results in extended sleeve life and long service from the packing.
