As an important part of the elevator, the elevator rope is not only related to the suspension and vertical weight of the elevator cabin, but also works together with the driving motor to realize
the up and down operation of the elevator. Elevator wire ropes are composed of rope strands, strand steel wires and rope cores. Most of the more common elevator cables are 6mm-16mm.
Elevator Rope Types
Elevator Steel Wire Rope
According to the application, elevator wire ropes are mainly divided into traction wire ropes and speed governor wire ropes.
Elevator Rope Attachment
The elevator rope attachment is matched with the rope head plate to connect the traction wire rope with other components.
What Is Elevator Steel Wire Rope Made Of?
The elevator wire rope consists of rope strands, strand wires and rope cores. Elevator wire ropes are made by twisting a single strand in a spiral around the core. Usually 50 to 65 high-quality
carbon steel or 60Si2Mn steel wire is used. For safety, the elevator wire rope uses special or No. 1 steel wire, and the diameter of the steel wire is limited between 0.3 and 1.3 mm. The elevator
wire rope has an oil-impregnated fiber core in the middle, which supports and fixes the position of the strands so as to improve the contact between the ropes and make the wire well lubricated.
Installation
When installing steel wire ropes, extra care must be taken that the ropes are unwound from the ring or reel without torsions and without any outer damage. The same applies to reeving the ropes into
the system.
Maintenance
As part of traction elevator parts, wire ropes must be maintained regularly. The type of maintenance depends on the lifting gear, its purpose and the wire rope selected. Regular maintenance can
greatly improve the service life of the wire rope.
1. Relubrication of wire ropes
After a period of operation, the lubricating oil on the surface of the wire rope will be consumed, and the lubricating oil should be reapplied regularly.
2. Cleaning wire rope
The surface of the wire rope is not completely smooth, so dirt and dust may accumulate and require regular cleaning.
3. Remove broken wires
If it is detected during inspection that the broken wire ends may pass through adjacent wires and break them while running on the pulley, these broken wire ends must be removed.
