Brown fused alumina is made of high-quality bauxite, anthracite, and iron filings. It is cooled and smelted at a high temperature by more than 2000 degrees in an electric arc. It is crushed and
shaped by a jaw crusher and a ball mill.

Applications of Brown Fused Alumina for Refractories
01.
Refractory Materials
Brown fused alumina is mainly used in refractory materials, iron hook castables, water-free mud, corundum bricks, prefabricated parts, breathable bricks, ladle bricks, magnesia-alumina-carbon
bricks, etc.
02.
Silicon-aluminum Series
Brown fused alumina is generally used in refractory materials for aggregates and fine powders, mainly for the silicon-aluminum series. The volume is stable when making products. However, since
impurities have not been completely removed during smelting, brown fused alumina also contains secondary crystal phases such as calcium hexaaluminate, anorthite, spinel, and rutile, as well as
glass phases, ferroalloys, and solid solutions. Therefore, the impurities of brown fused alumina determine the life of brown fused alumina products during use.
03.
Foundry Industry
In the foundry industry, brown fused alumina is suitable for making large-scale steel castings, especially the mold (core) surface sand, paste, and paint of alloy steel castings. The investment
casting shell made of brown fused alumina has good dimensional stability, thermal stability, and high-temperature chemical stability, and is a good refractory material for investment casting. Due
to its high price, it is only used as a molding material for castings such as heat-resistant high-alloy steel, stainless steel, and magnesium alloy.
