采用复合氮化硅陶瓷刀片加工铣削气缸盖、气缸套、汽车刹车盘等一系列零件，可以提高效率，如一把铣刀的转速可由原来的92r/min提高到275r/min。
轴承加工
滚动轴承长期以来采用粗加工、精加工、淬火、粗磨、精磨的工艺，如GCr15精锻轴承毛坯淬火至63HRC后，在自动磨床粗磨时会直接产生变形、不平整而卡死，严重时甚至会烧伤磨床主轴。将轴承套圈淬火前的精加工工序与淬火后的粗磨工序合并到陶瓷刀淬火后的精加工工序中，将使工件完全达到要求的尺寸和几何精度，实现以车代磨，大大提高加工效率。
硬铸铁加工
如采用复合氮化物陶瓷刀具加工冷铸铁轧辊，其刀具寿命比硬质合金提高4倍；用其加工超硬镍合金喷焊辊套，可大大提高切削效率和速度，节省时间和成本，提高经济效益。

●氮化硅陶瓷刀具的HRA值通常为91-93（HRA是用来表示软硬材料硬度的指标），因而耐磨性好，可以加工传统刀具难以加工或根本无法加工的高硬材料，如各类淬火钢、淬火铸铁，加工硬度可达HRC65（60HRA=20HRC）。
● 可用于高硬度材料的粗、精加工，亦可进行铣削、刨削、断续切削等高冲击加工。
● 用氮化硅陶瓷制成的刀具可进行高速切削，对高硬材料实现“以铣代磨”的功能，简化加工工艺，提高加工效率，达到节省时、电、机床数量和厂房面积等效果。
● 氮化硅陶瓷刀片切割时与金属的摩擦小，不易粘刀，工件的粗糙度值低。
● 刀具耐用度比传统刀具提高几倍乃至几十倍，减少了加工过程中的换刀次数，保证了工件的均匀性，同时也保证了锥度小、精度高。
● 该刀具以地壳中最丰富的元素硅为原料，可节省大量钨、钴、钛等战略金属材料。
