EVA II International Paris Art

International Paris Art Salon. In the year of 1978 in Ljubljana, she participated in a group exhibition with the selection awarding her the Bronze medal for her paintings, while her works were placed in the famed salon of painting and sculpture "COMPARAISON" in Paris the same year. Her more important exhibitions were featured at the MONA LISA gallery in Paris, at galleries in London, Milan, Monte Carlo, Zurich, Baden, Schaffhausen, Vienna, Graz, Innsbruck, and Klagenfurt as well as in other European cities. If one would want to classify her in any particular frame, the task would prove to be troublesome. Irena Polanec introduces herself with her paintings as an autonomous and independent artist, which in her decades of striving has shaped her own artistic expression. Her paintings are unique portraits speaking about life, sentiment, and yearnings not only of the painter, but of all earthly Eves, after which Irena Polanec named her extensive painting cycle. It found an echo in the painter's second homeland France, more so than here in Slovenia, where besides the numerous awards and acknowledgement she gained the membership of their most visible association of artists. The images of the painted Eves, do not belong in the material world, they are an actual poetic fiction, symbolic images of the painter herself and a symbol of a never fully comprehended womanhood. The symmetrical construction of the compositions, the brilliance of gold, the porcelain glare of shells, the signs of wealth and happiness strewn on their bodies and in their hair, and by their sides are fruits of all varieties, symbols of fertility, comprehension, purity, but also evil, and are embracing the formative content filling the images of Irena Polanec's art. In the collection the female portraits are represented, which reveal a broad spectre of different psychological conditions and reactions. Paintings of beautiful women are decorated with gold and black frames which add a new perspective to the works. Especially striking in the paintings is the golden colour, which adds a special reverie to them. In the paintings many symbolic messages are "hidden" which the author "reveals" in the form of fruit, flowers, leaves, shells...
