Our edge has gained wide acceptance in the office furniture industry. Due to the success of the product we have introduced a second line and we now are able to offer this superb product to the hospitality , shop fitting ,kitchen and hiring industries.
The Smartform edge has passed the most stringent tests involving bond strength, heat and cold. The fact that the edge is bonded to the board makes the edge an integral part of the board. As the polyurethane is inert there is practically no expansion or contraction. The super durable polyurethane edge has a high impact and scuff resistance. The join line between the edge and the board is so fine that the edge is water resistant .We are able to bond our edge to particle board as well as medium density fibre Board. The thickness of board that can take our edge ranges from 16mm to 32mm. We can use various types of surface finishes such as Melamine Decon and Formica . True to us being an innovative edge above the rest we can almost do any colour edges , this is perfect for corporates and may give you the edge on tenders. If we dont have a colour and you would like a specific one to match the companies logo you are tendering for , colour match should be possible , this process also take approximately ten days .
The machinery used in this application was developed in South Africa in conjunction with one of the leading manufacturers of woodworking machinery in Germany. The product produced has revolutionized the way that board is edged in the office furniture industry. Normally a polyurethane edge bonded to board is extremely expensive. However, the technique used by Smartedge SA (Pty) Ltd has made our Smartform edge cost effective and competitive with conventional PVC and wooden edges. PVC edges are usually glued on and subject to failure. Wooden edges contract and expand at a greater rate than particle board. This causes gaps to eventually appear between the particle board and the wooden edge.
Early in 2001 Celebrity Office Furniture, a leading manufacturer of office furniture in South Africa were offered the rights to use a patent which enables one to edge flat particle board with a super durable moulded polyurethane compound that is wear and impact resistant. In order to take advantage of this unique patent a new company, Smartedge SA (Pty) Ltd was formed.
