The CDC 48 meets the needs of a modern pharmacy applications involving the handling of cytotoxic drugs and chemicals that requires both containment and aspetic manipulation.Gelman's CytoGuard CDC 48 is an effective laboratory tool in achieving optimum control over product quality. Effectively eliminates the potential of exposures of personnel and product to airborne biological and particulate agents; aerosol or vapors which may be released during the process of preparation, manipulation and dispensing of cytotoxic drugs. Features Negative pressure. Double-walled housings for containment. One-piece 304 stainless steel work zone. Spacious work zone - 30" height. Sliding tempered glass window slanted at 10 degree reduces glare and operator fatigue. Automatic/Manual boost mode Ergonomically designed. Operation The CDC 48 is a partial recirculating laminar flow cytotoxic drug cabinet. HEPA filtered vertical flow laminar airflow in the work zone creates a sterile environment for the preparation of drug products.An effective air barrier between operator and and work zone is maintained by an inflow of room air via a full width air grill located at the leading edge of the work access opening.The air barrier blends with the reciculated laminar flow air and passes through a primary exhaust HEPA filter located directly below the work zone. This filter arrests aerosols released within the work zone, protecting blowers, internal components and maintenance technicians (during servcing and filter replacement work). The filtered air is then exhausted via a secondary exhaust HEPA filter located on top of the cabinet, protecting the environment from contamination. Optional activated carbon filter may be fitted to arrest volatile contaminants.Gelman's 'ZeroLeak' system ensures that all positive pressure zones are surrounded by negative pressure zones, effectively conatining potentially hazardous material within the cabinet.
