Art glass baskets were popular novelties in the late Victorian era. Though they may have been used for flowers, these hand-crafted baskets were created primarily as decorative pieces for the
home.
This basket is a yellow opaque glass with an overshot finish on the outside and a smooth finish on the inside. The swirl patterned basket has a clear thorn handle. This basket (in a different
color) is shown on Plate Fifteen, Row 1 in the book: "The Art Glass Basket" by Robert W. Miller, published in 1972.
