Rootz Creationz has been designing and producing distinctive African gifts for over 12 years. Carey Moran, the inspiration behind Rootz was always wanting to make a tangible difference to less empowered women. After completing an Honours Degree in Development Economics and working for the transformation of South African society, she found that craftwork was a possible way for people - particularly women - to earn a dignified living and have a chance to express their natural creativity and spirit.

From training one young artist in 1994, Rootz has grown into a dynamic organisation where more than 20 women and 5 men derive their income from producing beautiful gifts. Most designs are done in-house and we use the mediums of clay, wire, beads, leather, wax and cards to create a range of funky African inspired gift ideas.

We believe in fair trade, the dignity of self-support and use recycled waste products into our designs. We continue to grow from year to year and constantly keep an edge to the quality of our products that distinguishes us from the rest.
