    Working at the wooden looms, the Tujia women use tools made by ox horns to weave the patterns, a skill usually tought by their female in the family. Silk or cotton is the common thread material. There are 12 stages in the making process, which involves spinning the thread, dyeing and weaving at the loom.

    Tujia brocade is a Chinese traditional handicraft, which has existed 1500 years as yet. Tujia brocade is also named XiLanKaPu In Tujia language, "XiLan" means "bedcover" and "KaPu" means "flower". So, XiLanKaPu is bedcover brocaded with flower.
