Step 1

First do a test run. Dip a soft rag into petroleum jelly (use a very small amount) and rub it into a hidden area (bottom, inside lining, or strap) of your purse. Let the spot dry completely. This could take a few hours. Once it's dry the spot should look clean, shiny and new.

If you are happy with your test run you can get started. First empty out your purse and shake it out so that the inside is clean and free of debris.

Step 3

Use a very soft cloth like one you would use to clean eyeglasses or to polish your car. Dip the cloth into the petroleum jelly. Use a small amount at a time, a little goes a long way.

Step 4

Massage the jelly into the bag spreading it out as you go. Massage a thin layer over the entire bag. Do this by applying a small amount at a time until you've worked over the whole bag.

Step 5

Let the bag dry completely. Hang it on a hanger and allow at least a day or more for drying.
