In this painting, the stillness of a winter landscape is only emphasized by the silence implied by the presence of the owl as midnight hunter. This painting is the result of many walks in the winter around my home in Klamath County, Oregon. This barn was a real place until recently. It has been replaced by, you guessed it, a vacation home. The owl has been replaced also.
