Her travels through Africa have also been a great inspiration and many of her paintings read as a travelogue of her various destinations. Sue has sold both locally and internationally.
Her current work is either painted in oils on papyrus sheets or wood veneer. The surface that is being painted upon is as important as the image itself. Her subject matter is drawn from bygone images of people within wide spaces (our local archives have been invaluable). They have a dreamlike quality and her palette is limited. It is as if she is looking at her subject through a wide angled lens.
Over the years Sue has experimented with various media and disciplines. Her current work is a culmination of these experiments.
Sue was born and educated in Natal where she completed a Fine Arts Degree at the University of Natal. She now lives in Johannesburg with her husband and three children.
