Artist Rick Garcia was born in Miami of Cuban parents. His natural talent to draw and his passion for art grew even more after discovering a close connection to the work of Salvador Dali.
Immediately after high school he enrolled at the Art Institute of Miami and then The School of Visual Arts in NYC. Soon after his art education he began making sales and working on various
commissions including magazine illustrations. A gallery in Miami began representing his artwork in 1983 where sales were immediate and led to his involvement in the hit TV show "Miami Vice". His
work was used on the interior sets including a special mural on the side of a three story building in downtown Miami. In 1985 he was commissioned to create a private Christmas card for actor Don
Johnson. His popularity continued to grow to more private commissions by stars of the music business and private corporations including a private jet. His other commissions took his art around the
world again with such exposure for the famous vodka ad campaign Absolut Garcia and Absolut Electric. Following this came other significant commissions by The United Nations, Benihana, The Grammy
Awards, Gibson Guitars, The 2008 Kentucky Derby, and various others.
Now Rick Garcia is tapping into his Cuban heritage by creating a new collection of work called "Cuba con Leche". These original works are based on combining nostalgic images of Cuba with a modern
pop art appearance. Vintage cars, classic architecture, music, dancers, and all sorts of old Cuba/Havana images are used. The art of Cuba con Leche are be available either as originals or in print
form. Soon to come is a most unique packaging and merchandising idea. This will later be announced here.
"Cuba con Leche" is a unique creation from artist Rick Garcia combining images of nostalgic Cuba with a modern pop art feel.
