Imperial maids in wang shu kingdomAs one of tang yin's representative lady paintings, the scroll of imperial maids in wang shu kingdom depicts a story in the imperial palace of the shu kingdom. In the five dynasties, the shu kingdom consisted of two phases. The kings of the first phase were surnamed meng while the kings of the second phase were surnamed wang. The scroll was once named imperial maids in meng shu kingdom. Later, scholars inferred from tang yin's poetry on the painting (in lotus crown and taoist attire, the maids served their king to attend imperial banquet everyday. Unaware of their passing, flowers and willows still contend for bloom and exuberance each year) and relevant literary materials that wang yan, the last ruler of the wang shu kingdom, once asked imperial maids to wear taoist attire while similar incidents had never occurred in the meng shu kingdom. Therefore, the ladies in the painting should be the imperial maids in the wang shu palace. Accordingly, the title of the painting was changed to imperial maids in wang shu kingdom. In this painting collected by the palace museum are four slender imperial maids in gorgeous taoist attire. Tang yin concentrated his efforts on portraying their plump faces and coquettish stance. White powders are applied to their forehead, nose and chin so as to differentiate these parts from the flat parts of the face and to represent the three-dimensional effect. This kind of painting technique is called "method of three white".Now the scroll of the portrait of the red phoenix facing the rising sun is kept in the palace museum.According simulation reproduction, limited edition 1000 pieces.Size:1700x530mm
