Now a days there are a varied range of furniture made from either alone or a combination of steel (or stainless steel), timber, plastics, cane, bamboo etc. Painting will depend on the users requirement considering durability and decoration. The coatings may be clear, glossy or matt. Long durable coatings call for Epoxies or Polyurethanes. Structures for steel furniture may be given durable coatings with stoving paints either matt or glossy. Steel Furniture: Surface Preparation: As for steel & Iron. Painting: 2 coats of Robbialac Super Gloss Synthetic Enamel or (Air drying) Jhilik Synthetic Enamel over a coat of suitable primer. *Stoving: (Spray application) 1 coat of Stoving Red Oxide Primer. 1 2 coat of Stoving Enamel Paint (Matt or glossy)/ Epoxy Enamel Wooden Furniture It is always beneficial if the timber is seasoned, treated & fairly dry Surface Preparation: Smooth surfaces with appropriate sand/ glass papers. Fill the knots & cracks with appropriate stoppers. Staining may be done to teak, mahogany or other Color or may be left alone for natural Color of the timber. Painting: Clear Coating: Economy : 2 3 coats of Robb. Synthetic Clear varnish Premium Coating: 2 3 coats of 2 pack polyurethane or Epoxy Clear Lacquer. N. B. Do not apply on Shellac / French polish. Color Coating: Economy : A. 1 coat Bison Primer/ Auto Coat Primer Surfacer. 2 coat Jhilik Syn. Enamel. B. 1 coat Wood Primer. 1 coat Syn. Under coat/ Auto Coat Surfacer. 2 coat Robb Super Gloss Synthetic Enamel(Matt or glossy). Prime Durable: 1 coat Epilux 155 Primer. 2 coats Epilux 4 Enamel. or 2 coats Polyurethane Enamel. Cane/Bamboo Furniture: Clear Coating: 2 Coats of clear coating as described for wooden furniture. Color Coating: 2 coats of Color coating as described in wooden furniture. N. B. No primer or undercoat is required. Plastic furniture are not painted but if any part of it is either of steel or timber that has to be painted as stated above.
