WILLIAM NELSON

Bornin Chicago, Illinois in 1942, William Nelson began his formal arttraining at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago at the age oftwelve. While his Western and Native American images have been said tobe comparable to those of George Catlin and Fredric Remington, hisnostalgic art is comparable to those of Norman Rockwell and AndrewWyeth. By 1976, Nelson had been commissioned by the United StatesOlympic Committee to be the official and exclusive artist for theOlympiad. Later on, he was chosen by the U.S. Congress to paint ABicentennial History Of the United States which is now in display atthe Smithsonian Institute. Nelsons works are now being displayed inThe National Museum of Art, The White House, and countless privatecollections in the country.
