With a high pressure centrifugal pump of 10 stages the de-mineralized water is fed into the boiler for evaporation. A second pump is installed for safe operation.
The boiler is fired with 6 oil / gas burners. The consumption of fuel per hour is either 12 tons of light oil (DIESEL) or 15'600 Nm3 of natural gas. The burners allow the fulfilling of the current standards for environmental protection.
With a capacity of 150,000Nm3/ hour the combustion air is blown by a ventilator on top of the vessel thorough a heat exchanger to warmed up to 80 degrees C and then led into 6 oil / gas burners. The exhaust air leaves the vessel through the combustion air heater, the exhaust air channel and finally the high stack.
The boiler is a water tube vessel with natural circulation, gas tight welded for a production of 160 Tons of high pressure steam. The steel constructions of the building and the boiler are combined to enable a hanging construction of the boiler. The boiler is therefore very resistant to earthquakes.
PLANT DESCRIPTION
The ELECTRICAL GENERATOR was until now also run for 30,000 hours and is therefore practically new. During this operation time no breakdown could be observed. The generator is in very good condition and safe operation for the next 25 years can be expected.
The STEAM TURBINE with a high and low pressure part is operated on the counter pressure system. the total running time up to now was only 30,000 hours. to obtain the full power of 42 MW the machine must be renewed with new blades on the medium and low pressure parts. After this renovation the machine can easily be operated during the next 25 years.
The HIGH PRESSURE STEAM BOILER is equipped with 6 burners, operated on light oil / Natural Gas, with a steam production capacity of 150 tons / hour, the output temperature is 525 degrees C, having an output pressure of 110 bar, with exhaust air conforms to newest standards and weighing 400 tons.
Furthermore the high pressure steam boilers were adapted to the newest standard of environment protection for operation with natural gas and light oil. in the following years the plant was operated for very short times and with few exceptions with natural gas.
IN 1975 the industrial works of a big city had taken this plant, consisting of a high pressure steam boiler and a counter pressure steam turbine with electrical generator with a power of 42MW, for the production of electricity into service. At that time the high pressure steam boiler was fired with oil. Because of the rapidly increasing oil prices the plant was operated for a very short time. in 1984/85 the steam turbine was modified for steam output and counter pressure operation.
