Currently, two base models of the Hoffmann Edge Filter are available. However, systems will be custom built to suit the specific needs of your application. The system requires low viscosity oil to operate, and can be combined with optional equipment, such as magnetic separators, coolant chillers and mist collectors
The operation is fully automatic, and provides a filtration quality of 3 microns or less. It requires low maintenance, and since no disposable media is involved, the operating cost is the lowest of any filter system.
The cleaning cycle involves of pressure in the vessel resulting in a blow-down effect, thereby forcing the metal to the bottom of the tank. Because the metal is easy to collect, the Edge Filter is ideal for carbide and other metals that have a high reclaim value.
The Edge Filter uses a pressurized vessel to force dirty coolant through a series of filter sticks that are layered with a paper-like filter element. Due to the thickness of the filter element, the metal particles build up on the outside of the sticks. When the flow of coolant is reduced to a specific level, an automatic trigger initiates the cleaning cycle. The filter sticks are permanent, so unlike the pre-coat (DE) filter, the Edge Filter requires no disposable filter media.

For applications that result in fines from hard metals such as carbide, Hoffmann Filter introduces the Hoffmann Edge Filter. Specifically designed for hard metals, the Hoffman Edge Filter is
capable of handling the most demanding of machining processes.
