First of all, filter press is closed by follower head pressure which is exerted pressure on plates. When filter press is closed, waste water is permitted to pass through in press. Filling period is changing by flow rate and pump feeding. Filling period is also called as Loading period.

Filtration process happens that, as waste water just passing through plate by plate. After every loading period filter press follower head is pulled back and plates are opened as manually or automatically thus, formed moist sludge cake among plates is fallen down to conveyor band or sludege pan by gravitational force.

In order to extend lifetime of especially fabrics, metal body of filter press and its components they are washed periodically after every specific loads by compression water.
