How it works
The Microgage has two key components, a laser transmitter and a digital receiver. The laser housing is machined with a flat base and sides and a variety of mounting points. A highly collimated
laser beam is projected from the end of the laser and is parallel to the base and sides of the housing. An electronic receiver picks up the laser beam and provides a digital readout showing the
height of the laser beam. If the laser transmitter and receiver are resting on a flat surface, the display will read zero. If the transmitter or the receiver is then raised off the surface, the
differential position will then be displayed. The display provides readings in 0.0001 inch increments and also shows the strength of the laser signal. A microprocessor inside the display allows the
user to change the measuring units, store offsets, and a variety of other practical features. Combined with different optical and mechanical attachments, the Microgage 2000 can be adapted to a vast
number of measuring and industrial alignment projects.
