The features of these self-priming pumps are they can lift liquid without filling the suction pipe or using a non-return foot valve, even the suction pipe or pump body is vacuum the liquid can be lifted. For the first operation just fill up the pump body with water and start up the power water can be pumped out in some seconds. Manual raining machines or other types of pumps do not have such features.
