The pumps are also equipped with a vortex solids handling impeller which is capable of handling solids, allowing debris to be passed through the pump volute reducing maintenance and prolonging the life of the pumps.
The horizontal design actually maximizes the service life of the pump by minimizing the amounts of wear and tear on all the internal parts.
For years Aquascape Designs experienced the uses of vertical pumps in their water gardens and found themselves frustrated with the performance and believed there was a better alternative to the water garden industry. The idea was to redesign a family of pumps that are low profile enough and are exclusively designed for use in their pond skimmers. Their innovative, redesigned, low profile family of pumps were manufactured to that certain specification. The low profile design of the new pumps allow the pumps to set below the filter mats in the pond skimmers, reducing the need for unnecessary cuts or trimming of component parts.
