The Chemex? Coffee Maker is the brain-child of Chemist Peter Schlumbohm who desired better taste and finer flavor than he was getting out of traditional filter brewers. Applying the techniques used to insure laboratory purity, he set out to brew what may have been the first cup of truly, clear, full-bodied coffee - free of undesirable fats, oils, sediment and most of all...bitterness.
Note: Chemex? defines "1 Cup" as 5 ounces.

Known as a pristine coffeemaker, Chemex? employs all of the chemically correct methods for brewing. It's hourglass shaped flask is made entirely of glass, a chemically inert material that does not absorb odors or chemical residues. The Chemex? has no moving parts and will work forever, unless it is dropped or in some other way demolished. Chemex? filters are made of the highest quality filter paper. A wooden handled fastened to the glass with a piece of rawhide is the perfect insulator for handling the coffee maker just after brewing.
