Hawthorns Cold frame

• Strong wooden construction and attractive rustic appearance  (Wood smoothes out temperature fluctuations compared to light weight alternatives, so is preferred by experienced gardeners)
• The timber is pressure treated for long life no additional treatment needed, although there is no reason an owner could not colour them differently if desired
• Our hinges use removable pins, so the lids easily removed, eg for loading/unloading
• Excellent water run off no trapping in the lid frame. (You see lots of coldframes with a wooden framed lid, but water is easily trapped in this frame, leading to premature rotting.)
• Double walled polycarbonate lids are used for safety (especially important with our large surface areas) and for improved light dispersion (the polycarbonate diffuses the light and can avoid scorching of plants)
• Props fitted to enable lids to be held open at two different levels
• We offer 3 models Classic, Regal and Professional. Hawthorns website has a useful dimensioned picture of each model. The Classic is 1024mm wide, 655 mm front to back, 450 mm at its highest, the Regal is 1344 mm, 655 mm, 450 mm and the Professional 1344 mm, 1280 mm, 450 mm.
