With improvements in solar technology, solar powered lights for the outdoors are becoming more popular. Most of the solar powered lights are designed to be staked into the ground or close to the ground, more subdued lighting. These solar lights are wonderful for accent areas of a garden, porch, or patio, as well as for paths, lighting up walkways and creating borders in an area. This same style of landscape lights are also run on electricity and are set by timers. They usually sense when it is dark outside, and you then set them to run for a certain amount of time after sunset.

Outdoor Lighting serves many purposes. The main two areas are ascetics and safety. The darkness of the night creates an entirely new dimension and feel to an environment, and lighting can serve to accent areas, draw ones attention, light a pathway, and illuminate an area.
