Lamps

Here is a gallery for your viewing pleasure.

I have also done one lamp out of Norfolk Pine and a couple that are combinations of Formosan Koa and Padauk.

I love the look of Formosan Koa, so it is one of the wood types that I am turning into lamp bases. Unfortunately, it is not one of the most stable of woods and the edges season check, producing cracks. I will give it some time to see how the cracks develop. Some small checking doesnt bother me. It does add some character as well, but I will let you be the judge. Let me know what you think.

If you have attempted to look at my lamps page, up to now you probably noticed I havent had any posts to look at. All that changes today. I have been working on lamps for the past week. In my earlier turning days I made a couple of lamps so I do have a rudimentary knowledge base. Everything has gone well with the exception of characteristics of some of the wood I am working.
