These eye catching lamps make a unique addition to any room in the house. Their appealing design allows them a wide range of placement in the home, from high up on a shelf in the family room, a low accent table in the living room, a desk in the office, a nightstand by the bed, or anywhere in between! A unique process was developed to create these lovely lamps. First, a thin layer of opaque black porcelain is cast over a translucent white porcelain. Next, the artist carefully etches the black porcelain away in an intricate pattern, revealing the milky white porcelain underneath. Then, the piece is fired in a kiln at over 2500 degrees, which gives the porcelain great strength, and the white porcelain its lovely translucency. In some areas of the design, the etching pierces through both layers of porcelain, allowing the light to cast delicate patterns around the room when lit.
