Representing the action and notorious history of 19th century America, this piece is a real example of western iconography - unlike common production art. These lamps have been carefully forged with traditional ironworking techniques, incorporating a handmade reproduction of a Colt 45 field revolver, solid iron rope and a branding iron. The pistol consists of carved wood and solid hand forged iron that has been accurately crafted to match the shape and color of the original gun metal. The genuine barbed wire and rawhide shade has been hand stitched to offer both style and durability. A bullet finial holds the shade securely in place. All iron is finished with a patina, created by hand brushing oxides onto the raw iron and then firing at over 1000 degrees, creating a permanent color that is bonded with the metal and will never fade, chip, or crack.
