The ability to be deep drawn without being annealed makes 304 the standard grade from which products such as sinks and all kinds of hollowware are manufactured. Grade 304L (1.4307), the low carbon version of 304, does not require any post-weld annealing even when talking about heavy gauges.
No other grade is available in a wider range of products, forms and finishes. The excellent forming and welding characteristics makes it the standard steel for many applications in fields of industry, architecture and transportation.
The austenitic grade 304 or EN 1.4301 is the most common used stainless steel in the world.
