Humes Australian developed Hume spun concrete pipes are used around the world since 1926.
The spun concrete pipe is made by a process in which centrifugal force is used to spread a wet concrete mixture over the inner surface of an horizontal mould. Concrete is fed into the slowly revolving mould which is spun, squeezing out surplus water and evenly spreading compacted concrete over the inner surface. The pipes are extremely dense and able to withstand great pressure and non-porous because the water is expelled. |
