Corrosion Resistant Alloy (CRA) Clad Pipe and Fittings are composite products combin-ing the best properties of different metals. The high mechanical strength and economy of carbon steel and the proven corrosion resistance of the NiCr family of alloys. Uncom-plicated and proven welding procedures and equipment pipelines and process piping in the oil and gas industry are increasingly exposed to corrosion as the fields become more sour, wells are deeper with higher pressures and hotter products. Oil, gas and water must also be transported over longer distances at higher liabilities. Costly corrosion inhibitor and monitoring systems are often used to protect the installed carbon steel pipe lines. To cope with this situation the oil and gas industry has over the last years started to use large quantities of pipe in solid NiCr based materials and Duplex Alloys. The potentially more economical CRA lined steel pipe has been available from manufacturers based on various techniques e.g. explosive bonded, welded pipe made from roll-clad plate and seamless pipe with loose liner.
