There was a revolution in the housing culture of Korea when Poongsan introduced copper tubes for construction. The company now produces them for a variety of uses. A mass-production system has been adopted from the start for quality products. Tubes in many dimensions, up to 250 millimeters in diameter, are turned out from a modern production line consisting of a 2,800-ton double-action extrusion press, a bull block system and a high-speed draw bench. 'Ondol', meaning heating a room under the floor, is a traditional room-heating system in Korea. Poongsan developed PMC808, a plumbing system for Ondol, for the first time in Korea. It has excellent thermal conductivity, requires no maintenance and is very easy to install. It comes in more than twenty standardized coil types. Poongsan's tubes are widely used for water supply. They have been recognized as most ideal for the purpose, being very resistant to corrosion and defying scales. They are also popular in the building construction, room heating/cooling, gas service, medical and fire-fighting industries. For the first time in Korea, Poongsan obtained the ISO Certificate for its copper and copper alloy and tubes, proving that their quality is at a top-notch level. With its large production capability, nation-wide distribution network and speedy after-sales service, the company has vastly expanded in the area of construction tubes.
