Description

Conventional casting rollers tend to sacrifice wear resistance in order to ensure sufficient core ductility and toughness. By doing so, catastrophic failure, such as neck breakages, cracks through the body, and spalling may be avoided, however, surface deterioration, resulting from pressure, abrasion and erosion, thermal fatigue, oxidation and scaling, crack propagation, and corrosion in the presence of water does occur. In order to avoid such sacrifices, we have developed a new welding method called hardfacing, which ensures surface wear resistance while maintaining core ductility and toughness at the same time. Hardfacing is performed by overlayig the grinding media with wear resistant noble welding alloys which improve the life expectancy of rollers and thus enable our rollers to withstand harsh grinding environments for longer periods.
