Ruukki's solution to Rolfo was the Optim QC ultra high-strength steel, which has excellent mechanical properties. Optim steel allowed to decrease the plate thickness of the scissor lifting systems to 6 mm and gain the load bearing capacity of the transport vehicles. In the redesigned construction Rolfo used Optim 900 QC for the scissor lifting system and Optim HS 700 MC hollow sections for the frame of Pegasus.

Through ADQ, the Ruukkis Italian partner, the scissor lifting systems parts were laser cut out of the Optim 900 QC steel sheets. After the cutting phase the parts were tack welded and delivered to Rolfo, where the pieces are assembled and welded with the other parts of the structure. All the products, steel sheets and hollow sections, were delivered on a monthly basis program.
