Direct Pouring Sleeves are very useful for pouring castings like pulleys, flywheels, crank shafts in ductile iron and cast iron. a ceramic foam filter of the suitable size is placed inside the
sleeve and the sleeve is directly molded on the body of the casting or sidewise. Liquid metal is poured in to the sleeve till the mold and sleeve are full. Metal enters the mold after filtration
and as soon as the pouring of metal is stopped when the sleeve is full, filter floats out on the top of metal in the sleeve and the hot metal starts feeding of casting immediately. Following are
the main advantages of using Direct Pouring Sleeves:
1. It improves yield of casting by about 5 to 25 %.
2. Perfect Directional Solidification of metal is achieved thereby eliminating even micro shrinkage cavities.
3. Productivity enhancemnt and reduction in cost of production is achieved due to large savings in liquid metal
4. Only clean metal enters the mold. The terbulance of metal in the post filter section is eliminated.
