Advantages
The whole of sintered ring surface is covered by microscopic pores which are interconnected to the internal pores which contain the oil supply. As a traveler starts to run on the ring, bearing surface friction is generated which creates a capillary effect and thermal expansion of the oil. Oil starts to emerge from the surface pores and is evenly spread by the traveler over the bearing surface. The higher the friction generated, the greater the amount of oil which emerges from the surface pores which in turn lowers the friction, thus reducing the demand for oil. With a sintered ring, there is an constant automatic self adjusting oil flow to the bearing surface
