Knitted Wire Mesh

Knitted Wire Mesh is supplied as a flat tubular cloth. It is made on a circular knitting machine and flattened as
it is rolled up to provide a continuous flat tube.
USES:
Marine Applications: This material has proven to be an ideal surface material to enclose fiberglass insulation
blankets or any type of refractory insulation to reduce engine room noise, temperature and fire hazards
associated with oil or diesel fuel leaks. In addition, it reduces deterioration of electrical parts due to radiant
exhaust heat.
Petrochemical Applications: Knitted Wire Mesh insulation blankets can be constructed for any temperature or
atmospheric environment. In many instances, they can be installed while process is on line.
Power Utilities: Knitted Wire insulation blankets are easily installed and more energy efficient than old
fashioned blanket or rigid insulation. Maximum turbine efficiency is also realized because of increased heat
retention.
CONSTRUCTION:
Wire Size: The material is supplied in various wire sizes as follows:
.011 Recommended for maximum strength and temperature extremes.
.008 Intermediate application requiring less frequent removal.
Crimp: The material is supplied either flat or crimped (corrugated). Crimping provides a slight air gap on the
hotside of the material and also counteracts the tendency of the material to roll back when cut.
Knit and Yield: Wire mesh can be made in great variety of constructions. The most common is 8 stiches per
inch in the width direction and 8 coarses per inch in the length. This construction gives a yield as follows:
Double Layers:
