Description: Since Shima Seiki introduced its first computer-controlled flat knitting machine SNC in 1978, we have been at the forefront of knitting technology. We now enjoy a 60 per cent market share worldwide, and in May 2006 we shipped our 80, 000th computerized machine. Based on the best-selling computerized flat knitting machines in the world--the SES series--the new SSG and SIG machines are the result of the natural evolution of computerized flat knitting machinery. As the new amalgam of our greatest achievements, SSG and SIG carry over such Shima Seiki benchmark technology as the Spring-Type Full-Sinker System and DSCS Digital Stitch Control System. Ssg and SIG SV-type machines also feature WideGauge variable gauge technology. Special needles offer a wide range of production possibilities, from tighter, finer-gauge fabrics using all-needle knitting, to more airy, lower-gauge fabrics using half-gauge technique. Widegauge machines are all able to knit a variety of gauges on a single machine without the need for complex and time-consuming gauge conversion, supporting changes in seasons and trends quickly and economically. Other improvements over the SES series include a new high-performance motor for faster carriage speeds and quicker carriage returns, resulting in a 10% or greater increase in productivity. A new built-in computer-control unit allows simplified shipping and installation, easier maintenance, and more efficient use of space and an improved working environment. On the front of the machine is a USB memory interface for supporting large file sizes for increasingly complex patterns and designs. The new machines also feature a lower overall height for improved access to top tension units and for arranging yarn cones on top of the machine. In addition, SIG has superior intarsia capability with capacity for up to 30 intarsia carriers.
