High Pressure Water Jet Technology in Deburring and Washing ProcessIn the manufacturing industry and in particular in the automobile industry and its suppliers the requirements placed on the
cleanliness of parts with respect to residual contamination and residual oil content have increased significantly, as has also requirement concerning the freedom from burrs of the workpieces.
Residual contamination levels of 5 ?g and a largest particle size of 50x50?m for a complete transmission casing are not unusual. These demands result from the need for industry to prevent faults
and failures of complete modules and units from occurring, or at least to minimize them. Even the finest particles of contamination, loose or broken-off burrs lead to faults and failures of
bearings and control valves etc. To guarantee this a technology must be found which fulfills the specified demands with respect to residual contamination and freedom from burrs inexpensively and
with processing reliability. These requirements are fulfilled by high pressure water jet technology. The basic version the plants are equipped with a high pressure pump for 380 bar operation, but
can be optionally equipped with pumps for 600 or 1,000 bar operation.Recent technology is using the robot system. Inside the treatment zone a robot gripper fetches the workpiece from the storage
area and by means of an NC system transports them at up to 30 m/min to the individual nozzles or along the nozzles (?contour travel). The different nozzles are installed in a grid fixed to the base
and rear wall. Rotating nozzles with their own motor drive can also be used for the deburring of holes. With the use of special nozzles (cranked nozzles) and the rotating gripper (NC-axis, n x 360
