The rotational capacity of the custom tamp, combined with the three fixed snorkel lengths, provided a flexible and economical solution to this customer's challenging application requirements.
Label-Aire designed an applicator with two custom, adjustable, extended snorkels; each extended snorkel was outfitted with a dedicated custom tamp assembly for either Checkpoint or Sensormatic tags. The custom tamp is able to rotate the tag 45 degrees, 90 degrees, or 135 degrees in either a clockwise or counter clockwise direction. The adjustable snorkels can be extended to any of three fixed lengths across the conveyor.
The Solution
A large compact disc manufacturer required one applicator to apply both Checkpoint and Sensormatic tags, from six different rotating positions, on CD jewel cases at speeds up to 60 products per minute. A standard EAS applicator was not a viable option due to the obstructions on the customer's indexing line.
