The area is the habitat and hideout and feeding ground of many birds including the Oriental Plover . In the Edo period, many artists described the beautiful scenery of Ashibe and Chidori(the plover) and this design is decorated using traditional Japanese MAKI-E and Japanese printmaking. The design is hand decorated in traditional Japanese MAKI-E techniques by famous MAKI-E artist Mr. Isshu Tamura.
