Introduction ToThe JubileeThe Ortofon jubilee cartridge, was made especially forthe celebration of Ortofon's 80th anniversary. For quit some timeit has been Ortofon's goal to create an entirely new
cartridge design- visually as well as in sonic performance - our aim is to bringyou many hours of a new previously unparalleled listening experiencewhile enjoying your precious record collection.
How would it be possibleto influence the most important part of this new concept - the sound- in such a way, that true lovers of analogue reproduction wouldfind, that the Ortofon Sound - once again
- had improved the listeningexperience to this outstanding medium. After many and serious investigationswe came to the conclusion, that by utilizing high quality materialswith the best Ortofon
design elements throughout the years we wouldreach our goal. The response we received from test-listeners to thefirst prototypes of this new Ortofon concept was very positive andrevealed the
impression of a new dynamic, but well balanced soundimage over the entire frequency range. It is our hope, that all ourfaithful customers will agree upon this statement and enjoy theirprecious
collection of records even more when listening to the OrtofonMC Jubilee cartridge.New Design ElementsThe new appearace of thedesign is a result of a co-operation between professional
industrialdesigners and the Ortofon Chief Engineer Per Windfeld. Were the mostadvanced technology and processing should have a very high priority.During the developing process it became more and
more evident, thatthe requirements to both outside as well as inside parts became sodemanding with respect to details and finish, that usual manufacturingprocedures were insufficient. The only
method that would meet ourrequirements, was found to be the so-called Metal Injection Mouldingprocess (MIM).This process is based on very fine metal powders beingmixed into a polymer and injected
into a mould. After moulding theparts will pass heat treatment and sintering processes and the resultis solid metal parts of either stainless steel to be used for theouter design or highly
conductive iron for the magnetic circuit.Very low wall thicknes together with miniaturisation of the magneticcircuit made it possible to keep the cartridge weight as low as 10.5grams. All parts on
the Ortofon Jubilee model are pressed togetherto a almost solid unit, so no use of screws or glue was necessary. As mentioned, a new unique magnetic circuit was developed in orderto concentrate
magnetic fluxlines in the air gap with the smallestamount of leakage in the circuit. The solution was to place the dampingsystem inside the Neodymium magnet itself. By doing so we gaineda raise in
output voltage of 35% compared to the MC Rohmann cartridge. The well known Ortofon WRD-damping system (Wide Range Damping) isalso implemented in the MC Jubilee cartridge, controlling the high- and
low frequency damping separately. The effective mass has beenreduced in the new stylus/cantilever system by using a very thinBoron rod. This material is extremely stiff and even more
lightweightcompared to aluminium.Besides is the velocity of sound almost 3times higher compared to that of aluminium. Combined with the nudehigh-polished Shibata diamond stylus at the end of the
cantilever,we have developed one of the new elements responsible for the newsound. 6-nines 99.9999% pure silver is used for the coils on thearmature whereby the DC resistance has been kept as low
as 5 Ohm.TECHNICAL DATAOutput voltage at 1000 Hz,5cm/sec.340 ?VChannel balance at 1 kHz< 1 dBChannel separation at 1 kHz> 27 dBChannel separation at 15 kHz> 20 dBFrequency range20 - 60,000
